By now you would have read conflicting reviews about the Glacier Express. I wouldn't know how expensive it was, as I was with Insight Vacations tour group. This was 12 December 2018, and we had one whole carriage to our group. I assumed it was...More

We travelled from Zurich to St Moritz in January picking up the Glacier Express at Chur. It is a wonderful trip and I can fully recommend it.

My friend and I decided on going to Switzerland and one of the things we were most excited about was the Glacier Express. We flew into Zurich and made our way south specifically so that we could board the Glacier Express in Zermatt. This ride...More

This is a nice train ride but perhaps a bit overhyped/overpriced. We used one of the days on our Swiss Travel Pass Flex and paid for the upgrade to first class (1/2 the difference in ticket costs). You also need seat reservations, which you pay...More

We are on the GEX now and were told that due to weather conditions we will be travelling nowhere near the advertised route. This is understandable to a degree. Minutes later the food and drink service came around. Given the price we paid for the...More

Our trip was delayed by 2.5 hours, because of a snow storm, which was very exciting. The scenery was beautiful throughout the trip and anyone traveling from Zermatt to St Moritz should definitely take this route. If you just want a shorter beautiful trip, I’d...More

We took several trains to get across Switzerland, including the Glacier Express. We thought the GE would provide something special, some important information that would add to the experience. I can honestly say that the experience on the Glacier Express was underwhelming and the employees...More

We arranged to link up with the Glacier Express at Chur, and travel the section to Brig. Our tickets included a three course lunch. We also had a tour guide with us, which is subject to a separate review. This review is focussed on the...More

Booked first class tickets on Glacier Express for Christmas Day, seat numbers can be a little confusing to find, need to make sure you are in correct carriage. Would help to have someone meet you on platform to let you know what carriage you are...More

Right side with table for four had best views, however if travelling in first class, left side has two seater tables. Much more comfortable, not many to book though so need to book early to get any two seaters.

The most famous views of the journey such as the large stone bridge is between Chur & St Moritz. I would highly recommend starting or finishing the journey in St Moritz
