The cruise was great on a sunny day . The restaurant service staff were snobbish to say the least. We upgraded to first class and We didn’t know we have to book or reserve to eat . As tourist paying for their wages/salary , we Felt like second class citizen the way we were spoken to.

Anybody from the management team reading this should remind them that the tourists pay for their living . Switzerland may attract lots of tourists now but the time will come when the tourists will go somewhere else.

We started from Thun and took a cruise till Spiez. As we left the town, the Thunersee turned out to be more and more beautiful. Such a calming experience to sit and enjoy the waves, its silence and the cool air.

On joining the vessel we left what we thought was first class and went the rear , thinking second class. A female ticket collector rather rudely pointed point our mistake, none too discreetly, and called us to the ticket office to sort out.
Overall, a good cruise, as far as Spietz, but would not do again.
To all, be aware, we have seen same happening on the Breinzersee, but handled much mare efficiently

I absolutely love the Lake Thun cruise. The ship departed from the Interlaken West (See), which was just a minute walk from the Interlaken train station. We took the cruise that departed at 12:10 towards Thun & it left right on time. The price was included within our Swiss Travel Pass. We had 1st class, which the seats were upstairs and it's totally worth it. Upstairs had plenty of space & it's a paradise compared to the overcrowded downstairs.
The sceneries were picturesque. Because upstairs was so empty, therefore we had the privilege to sit around and kept relocating to the best seats along the deck to enjoy the views of those breathtaking mountains & turquoise water for over 2 hours!
The cruise at Lake Thun was definitely the best Lake cruise we ever had & for many years to come. It was one of the best highlights we had on our Switzerland trip. Highly recommended!

We stayed at a chateau for 2 nights. It was our homebase while going around Grindelwald, Interlaken and Thun. It was a dream come true to visit Switzerland with family. One day we visited the City of Thun, such a wonderful place along a very clean river while some guys were river skiing.

Incredible scenic and beautiful lake, amazing views during sunset and sunrise. All colours are dancing together, mountains with snow, lake with wonderful blue tones.

PROS
• Beautiful and scenic- incredible almost beyond belief
• Very large and deep, with many water activities- boating, sailing, swimming
• Boat excursion is covered by the Regional Pass- Berner Oberland

CONS
• Boat service not frequent enough
• Boats crowded with tourists

“I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
… after I passed this lake so many times as I’ve viewed it so many times during my frequent travel in SBB CFF FFS trains between Bern/Thun and Interlaken West, in both directions.

I had watched swimming and boating and water activities for so long that I knew that I had to get onto this lake.

I took the SBB CFF FFS train to Thun and the boarding dock is right next to the train station, so I took the full boat excursion from there to Beatenbuch Station (covered by that RPBO) and then we ascended to hike at the peak of the z a Niederhorn. It took an hour and was quite worth it- so interesting, so beautiful and so much fun.

I also took the long walk from Spiez train station down to the lake- that was definitely less interesting.

TIPS
• Definitely do it, especially if you have the RPBO
• Use it to go to Beatenbuch Station for the journey up to the Niederhorn
•. Enjoy the journey/ maybe at the beginning of the day- maybe to minimize the crowds (although at 10am, the boat was already full)
• Please enjoy my hopefully “helpful” photos

Many Swiss towns are just by a lake which is surrounded by mountains. This is also the case with Thun - a small town set by the Thunsee or Thun Lake.
The drive around the lake is so rewarding with so many places to stop and take fab pics. Also, another option is taking a boat ride over the lake.

Amazing and beautiful city, nice people, good food, but expensive. The lake is so beautiful. I ran the ironman here and it was the best experience

A boat ride around the lake that stopped at the tourist attractions/destinations sounded great. Although we were concerned about several aspects of the Hop-On, Hop-Off cruise, such as how many stops did it make, how long was the interval until the next boat arrived, and did it make a complete round-trip, that is what we had initially planned to do. We thought we would find the answers to those questions at the boat dock office in Interlaken. All that fell through when we were unable to find the dock from which the boat departed. In retrospect, it probably worked out better since our day trip driving around the north side of Lake Thun was extremely enjoyable and provided some great sights of the beautiful shoreline. We were also able to spend as long as we wanted at each stop and visited some places that the boat does not stop. I think our favorites were the St. Beatus Hoehlen caverns, Oberhofen Castle, and the ride up to the Niederhorn. At many spots, you are treated to fantastic panoramic views of Lake Thun and the Bernese Alps. Even if you’re visiting during the summer, you may want to bring a light jacket since the wind off the lake is rather cool. Also, several of the car park lots at the various stops are for-pay lots, so make sure you have some coins. We toured the lake on a weekday and, surprisingly, it wasn’t very busy.
