You will go over this probably a thoudsand times in Basel. The public transport and the main street are connected to this bridge making it a good point to meet up. You can also take awesome pictures of the river and the city looking up.

The first bridge across the Rhine was opened in Basel in 1226. The bridge initially served mainly local traffic, but in the 14th century, when the road over the St. Gotthard pass attained international significance, it became an important Rhine crossing for long-distance trade. After...More

One of 5 bridges over the river Rhine in Basel, but this one is the oldest and connects downtown Grossbasel and downtown Kleinbasel. Yes, Basel has two downtowns! Walking or running in Basel undoubtedly brings you over this 1905 re-built bridge. The original bridge goes...More

We walked across the bridge on a sunny day and it was fun to see so many people floating down the river with their inflated bags keeping their clothing dry. The bridge was a great place to get pictures up and down the river, and...More

This bridge provides tram and pedestrian traffic. It is an easy walk to cross the river. We used the ferry one way and then the bridge coming back.

Nice, touristy bridge. Has a good view of the rhine & its banks. Bridge running to parallel to this one are also worth visiting.

The original bridge (the first one to permanently span the Rhine) was built in the 1200's, but the current bridge has an historic appeal to it as well. On the east side is a small gatehouse of sorts, typically covered in locks (as seems to...More

Take the ferry over to one side of the river and walk across the bridge to get back. There are a few statues to look at, but the main attraction is the Rhine itself.
