It´s a small and simple Romanesque church, like it was in the times of St. Francis, just the condition of the frescoes look to be worse (shame). It is a backstreet gem, without noisy people, the best place to feel spirituous and pray in silence....More

We visited this very simple church in September 2017. After the extravagant beauty and bustle of the Basilica of St Francesco, it provided a welcome spot of tranquility- truly balm for the soul until a noisy pair of visitors arrived snapping photos. Oh well you...More

This small church had been recommended for a visit and we were pleased we took the time to follow through. Very simple, ancient and still used. An oasis of peace and calm (at least on the day we visited).

We have visited many wonderful places and this spot is terrific. Peaceful and tranquil. We see why St. Francis loved it.

Walk back into the days of Saint Francis. This romanesque church has a phantastic fresco of the Madonna with Saints Francis and Stephen. Holy Eucharist at 09.00 hrs is a blessing.

Dating from before St Francis, this wonderful small Romanesque single cell church is a haven of peace. Well worth finding time to simply rest and offer a prayer.

This is a good stop in town if you are interested in all of the history of Assisi. Rick Steve's has an audio tour on his app of Assisi that is very good.
