I'm not one to write reviews, even though I do rely heavily on them when making a decision. However, my family and I had such an amazing experience with Giulio, that I wanted to make sure others who are hesitant know how awesome he is!! I'm from the USA, and I'm pretty sure his english is better than mine! I originally reached out to him via Facebook Messanger and he responded the same day. (My family really wanting to hike up to the Verruca Fortress, and because there is so little info about how to do that, we knew we needed a guide.) He was spot-on about everything!! He answered every question I had over the next few days, and completely adapted the hike to our group. Part of our group was late, so he even took us to a sandwich shop, ATM, and bakery during our wait so that we could get food for the hike and see the town. He brought water for all of us- which was unexpected and so appreciate-, and even surprised my in-law by making espresso at the top of the fortress. He even emailed us pictures that he took of us hiking. He was beyond prepared, entirely professional, incredibly knowledgable, and the perfect guide for us. I actually think one of the main reasons we enjoyed this difficult hike is because of our conversations and time spent with him! He mentioned there were a few other fortress ruins in the area that he didn't have on his website. We will- without doubt- hike with him again when we return in 2019!! He was THAT amazing!! Seriously, if you need a guide, I can't imagine finding a better one than Giulio! We are SO excited to hike with him again in the future!!!

Giulio was part of the guiding team in Lofted Islands in July/August through Adventureline. Really looked after us all ! A great guide, fantastic cook (especially coming up with meals for a non-seafood eater), story teller and adventurer!

My wife and I were lucky enough to tour the Lofoten Islands of Norway with Giulio Cucciolifor for eleven days in late July. He was part of the guiding team that helped to make the tour the vacation of a lifetime. Giulio was thoroughly professional, as a guide. Equally important, he was a wonderful travel companion. He helped to look after all of us in the group, and he was so skillful that most of the time we were not aware of the efforts he made to give us comfort, encouragement, and a sense of adventure. I hope to go on another walking tour with him soon.

Giulio was part of the guide team for our multiday hiking/touring in Lofoten. His guiding and cooking skills were outstanding. I especially liked his salmon pasta with cream sauce. Giulio's energy and enthusiasm were a delight. The Lofoten Islands have without a doubt the most beautifully rugged mountain landscapes I've seen in Europe or the Americas. Giulio captured the trip in excellent artfully composed photos that he made available to the group. The treks were challenging for our age 50s/60s group but alternating difficult and less arduous days gave time to recoup and avoid tiring out. One of the MANY highlights of the trip was rowing on a Lofoten fjord. I highly recommend Lofoten as a trekking destination.

We had the great good fortune of taking the Verruca Castle trek with Giulio Cuccioli in late May of this year (2016). Doing so was awesome, in the old sense of the word – an experience that inspired awe. We were staying in Pisa. Giulio gave us a perfect instructions to get to Calci on the bus that goes to Montemagno from the Manin Square, which is steps away from the Leaning Tower. After this 20-minute ride, we got off and met Giulio precisely where he said he would be. He sent us a link with a picture. We first walked around the towns of Calci and Montemagno, both of which are darling. Giulio was full of information about both. The only reason we did not visit the Certosa of Calci itself was that we went to Calci on the one day of the week that the Certosa was closed. If you can go on one of the other six days, I highly recommend visiting the Certosa. We went on another day, and it was magnificent. The hike up to the Verruca Castle was gorgeous – and do-able. I am (closely) pushing 60, and only in moderate shape. I take NO spin classes and do not jog! My husband, though in better shape (he is retired) is 8 years older than I. Nonetheless, we were able to hike the 2000 feet up (8 miles) because Giulio knew how to pace it. The mountains are rugged, but for someone who knows them like Giulio, there are do-able paths like the one we took. Climbing up to the top, listening to all the fascinating history of Tuscany from Giulio – was truly a “once in a lifetime” experience. I have been to Italy perhaps 20 times (some for business – no trekking, of course) in 35 years. NEVER have I had any remotely similar experience. This was a completely different – but gorgeous and inspiring - experience. The mountains and the view are spectacular. When we got to the top, Giulio actually made coffee for us! AND it was delicious! I won’t repeat everything he told us so as not to spoil the story. I can only tell you to do yourself a favor and go.
