A beautiful square with lots of shops. Lovely architecture to look at and lots of restaurants off the side streets. Lovely centrepiece of a gorgeous (but small) hill top town.

I'm unsure as to whether the market and activities are only there on a Sunday but they did give the village a great atmosphere with stall holders dressed in period costume.

Arrived in Cortona just after lunch around 2pm, which I presume is siesta time as it was quiet with few people about and not many shops open. Spent an hour by having an Italian craft ale @Birrificio Cortonese, but even after that during late afternoon...More

Love Cortona. Love all the shops. And love this piazza. We’ve been there several times on this month-long trip through Tuscany and each time there’s a significant event happening at city hall right there on the piazza. And lots of wonderful little shops - and...More

Loads of action here. Grab a seat in one of the cafes and a drink and sit back and watch The world go by. Entertaining is the word.

There is something special about each piazza in Italy, but this beautiful one in Cortona is especially charming! Maybe because of the surrounding buildings or maybe because of the clock tower on high and lots of steps to sit on for people watching, but you...More

The piazza has one of the best things a piazza can have--lots of steps to sit on while you rest, people watch and finish your gelato. Lovely and charming.

I always enjoy the various Piazzas of Italy. Enjoyed the various shops and eateries and just people watching. We actually ended up in this Piazza three times during our 24 hour stay. Always something to see. Obviously not to be missed.

Cortona is our favorite Tuscan town. It was full of history, food, and beauty. Views toward it and from it toward the surrounding countryside are unbelievable. Trying to drive or park anywhere around it are awful. We solved that problem with a taxi from our...More

Don't know if there's a hotel on the Piazza itself. It is a great place to visit regardless of the time of year. We stayed at a villa that was literally a 10 minute walk from the Piazza - Fonte al Vento which I would... More
