Beautiful spot in Cortona. Cortona is a perfect town in Italy for a vacation short or long. It is a perfect location for day trips to other towns and cities. It is vibrant with good restaurants and shops.

Cortona Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was built at the remains of the ancient Roman temple in the 11th century. Little is left of its original Romanesque character, because of the several renovations and refurbishments. Although most of its treasures today lies in the Museo Diocesano, the church is worth visiting, for several canvases made by Berettini and disciples of Signorelli.…

Enjoy the ride to the top, a town somewhat isolated. The families live here forever. Our local guide’s relative painted the ceiling of the Cathedral. They basically worship St. Margaret most of all. The interior of the Cathedral is a usual beautiful sanctuary.
