The tiny historical center of Pienza is an excellent example of the ideas of Renaissance in urbanism. The main square, surrounded by the Cathedral, the Piccolomini Palace, the Bishop Palace and the Public Palace is a masterpiece in its proportions. But the whole historical center...More

Real beauty where they could film Romeo and Juliet without changing anything. Most streets are nicely maintained without spoiling the historical heritage.

Pienza is famous for photographers. The small town on a hill, ancient walls and the views to see the tuscan countryside. We were lucky to see an ancient competition of rolling a cheese by young competitors by the duomo. The cheese festival is an annual...More

This is a small historical town. We were there for an hour. Could have stayed longer easily. There are some great views. Shopping is easy as the town is about 10 blocks by three. It is known for pecorino cheese and cheese tasting is everywhere....More
