We thought of walking up to the church but realised that it would kill us both, and so took a bus, then walked downhill to the town. Well worth a visit.

The church is located on the mountain over the city (Mount Tauro), built on the rock in the 17th century. It is a small and modest church with beautiful view, well worth the climbing all those steps.

While this is a modest church by some standards, it is unique because it is carved into the mountain, which serves as its roof. It was a beautiful, serene place to visit.

Very well worth the climb on foot! Very good exercise for contemplation as you climb Via della Croce. The feeling is different ahen you go there by foot and experience it.

Beautiful church situated just below the castle overlooking the village that feels carved into the face of the mountain. Great place for solitude and meditation. If you make the walk up the castle, don't miss stopping in here!

Situated on a hill above Taormina this is a real gem of a church. Built into a grotto in the hillside it is tiny but beautiful and very peaceful. The views from the terrace back across the rooftops of Taormina towards the sea must rank...More

No you can get a taxi up. The people getting married may have organised a mini bus for guests, think that's what usually happens.
