The 12-th century tower was the entrance to Taormina’s oldest district, Borgo Medievale. It is situated in the central part of Corso Umberto, next to the Piazza IX Aprile. It was built on the remains of an old defensive building from the 4th century BC...More

This ancient church sits in the heart of the old town and is well worth a visit. It is noteworthy for its clock, as no other church has this feature

The beautiful village of Taormina does not feature many landmark buildings. However, the Torre dell'Orologio is one structure which could definitely be described as a landmark structure. While walking through the village, we came across this impressive medieval clock tower. It stood out from the...More

Quite interesting old clock and very useful, too. Besides the obvious use of telling time, it's also on a half-way between Porta Messina and Porta Catania, two main entrances to Taormina.

Nice medieval clock tower near the Piazza IX Aprile. As backdrop it gives the square some character. It looks beautiful at night when it has the square illumination shining on it. It's arch serves as a walkthrough for pedestrians to walk along the main street...More

This stone arch, like its sister arch (Porta Messina – see my review) 1 kilometer away on the opposite end of this street (Corso Umberto – see my review), is reminiscent of the many “gates” that still exist today that are entrances and exits of...More

A beautiful and iconic Taormina landmark, the clock tower looms large in the central square, making it visible from the distance and lovely up close. The only problem was could barely photograph it but for the throng of tourists all around.
