About
The view of Mount Etna and the sea beyond is absolutely superb at Taormina's 10,000-seat ancient Greek amphitheater, which was erected in the third century BC and expanded by the Romans.

About 1.5 hours I guess. Audio Guide is ok but not as good as many I have used previously. Good photo opportunities with Mount Etna in the background. Theatre is much larger than you imagine.

A very well preserved theatre. Amazing how it was built in the 3rd century BC. This Greek Theatre is probably the most fascinating historical monument in Sicily.

I always make a stop here when in Taormina even though I have been here many times! I love the views, the photo opportunities... the mix of history and cultural! All within an easy walk from the main streets of beautiful Taormina! Highly recommended!

The place is very atmospheric with a taste of Ancient Greece. Definitely worth visiting. Nice view to Taormina and the bay. Taormina is vibrant town with many cosy restaurants and cafes. Tasty Sicilian wines and desserts. Lots of Roman churches and cosy small shops.

We went on a tour here whilst on a cruise. We had a mix of sunshine and showers. We understand that the Greek theatre is the best preserved of its type. We had a wonderful time here. The views are stunning and if one could...More

Great ruins, and a must see. Its just a shame you can't use the tickets you purchase during the day to be able to return and get a glimpse at night to see it all lit up... But as i said a must see but...More

This theater is huge and amazing. It has aspects of both Roman and Greek design so it's not clear how much of it was built early by Greeks then later added to by the Romans. The hillside area it sits on is also gorgeous offering...More

Best €5 I’ve spent here was getting the audio program. Great descriptions at 12 spots - go slowly, really observe the history. Definitely don’t miss the theater. On a sunny, warm December day, there were about 10 people there - very quiet and fascinating.

It is very hard to imagine that Romans build this beautiful theater 2000 years ago. It is still used as a theater for evens like film festivals and music performances. Amazing! Just feels like time stoped there.

We did other things until 5:30pm, when we entered. It closes at 7. We had it nearly to ourselves at the end. Were the last ones out. It’s cooler and the light is superb.
