The view of Mount Etna and the sea beyond is absolutely superb at Taormina's 10,000-seat ancient Greek amphitheater, which was erected in the third century BC and expanded by the Romans.

Visiting the Teatro is a must when in Taormina. However, would strongly recommend arriving at opening time and on a clear day. First, far less tourists, particularly coach tours; second, at that time the sun is shining on Mt Etna and at your back; third,...More

I've been to many amphitheaters during my travels but this one must be one of the best due to its location. It is set high up in Taormina as the town is high anyway. There are pillars at the front and the view through this...More

The only reason Im giving the Greek Theater a 4 star and not a 5 is that Taormina has become so inundated with tourists that it has lost its lustre. We rented a house in Taormina and have wonderful memories-the view, the depth of history,...More

Strategically situated to capture the best views across the bay and let the eye rest on the shinning waters of the Ionian. Easily accessible, family friendly. Cool down from the heat with ice cream or without!

We did other things until 5:30pm, when we entered. It closes at 7. We had it nearly to ourselves at the end. Were the last ones out. It’s cooler and the light is superb.
