This lovely mountain located just outside Palermo is a popular tourist attraction. Our tourist bus ferried us from the port where our cruise liner had docked up this steep mountain with hairpin curves and bends. Beautiful flowers and cacti abound all over the slopes. Ample...More

Only 9 miles from the city centre, this mountain is easily accessible and there is a regular bus service that runs to the top from Politeama, so we thought to give it a try. Monte Pellegrino sits next to Palermo and offers an escape to...More

At 1,970 feet, panoramic views of Palermo and the surrounding mountains are abundant. Goethe, in his ~1775 book “Travels in Italy”, described Monte Pellegrino as the most beautiful promontory in the world. I concur! While there, I learned that Palermo faces the Tyrrhenian Sea, not...More

Great views over Palermo and the nearby sea. We asked our hotel driver to take us to the top of Monte Pellegrino, which is a 600m mountain at the edge of Palermo. Cost us approx 20€ but it was well worth it. We saw also...More

Interesting place to visit. You can stop for many great view points along the way. Better go when sky is clear.

We took the local bus to the shrine. Take note that the bus runs infrequently during the week, as there is only one bus serving this area. We had to wait 70 minutes, as we did not have the timetable and the bus stop had...More

Sensational views of Palermo from this quaint mountain. This Duomo was worth seeing as wll as the cloisters. Much better than Norman Palace. Village was very quaint with nice outdoor cafes. Very pleasant afternoon.

Hi Cris, the best place is from via Martin Luther King (see the map). From there an old road (XVII century) until the Sanctuary of Saint Rosalia. Good trek.

It's pretty far, there is a bus driving to the church on top which is a scenic view, too. Use the website Rom2Rio dot c o m to get bus times and stops.
