The Swiss built a perennial astronomical clock that gives day, month, year and phases of the moon. The bell tower at noon every day for 15 minutes puts uo a mechanical show of unusual interest

Very impressive with all the men pulling this massive votive cart and celebrate the assumption of the virgin Mary into heaven. it is a day of celebration and at the end of the night they have fireworks

Have lived here in Sicily for many years but had never previously seen La vara of the duomo. Took visiting family and it was well worth the visit. Would strongly recommend to any one visiting Messina or indeed any part of Sicily.
