Its just by the airport so you can see planes take on. Sand as sand :) as its not season time we foynd it rather getting ready and need a lot of tidying. Still it was great! I bet in summer people can get great view of Etna. The far distance you can see the port Catania. We had ordered some food there which was ok. But nothing special. The staff however very friendly and polite.

My family and I went here on a recent trip to Sicily . We where looking for a good beach to swimming and snorkel. For two sun beds, a parasol and parking it cost around 30 euros . The parking attendant takes your car and parks this for you . The beach we where told was packed and that there was no room closer to the beach . On inspection this wasn’t the case and we managed to be quite close to the sea . The sand wasn’t great for building sea castles ( a prerequisite for my daughter ), as it was full of lose volcanic rocks . This isn’t a complaint , just an observation.... The area was clean and well maintained . The waves were lovely and large , but due to the sand my bottom , wasn’t great for snorkelling ... again ( more my fault for not checking prior to going ) . The facilitates were very good , showers, changing rooms were included and there was a shop serving food and drinks only a short walk away .

We visited this lido because it had a sandy beach. Staff were very friendly but it is very holiday camp like - rows of very old showers and tired looking beach huts. Lunch is canteen style fast food Italian style. Lasagne was really good (had to ask for it to be heated - presume English thing!) A previous review said this was expensive but we thought on par with Taormina costs. Cost £38 euro for 4 beds & umbrellas for the day for 2 adults and 2 children. Children 10 and over are chargeable. It's very safe for kids as bathing area is roped off and only about 4.5ft deep at the deepest part.

With my wife working out in Catania for 7 weeks, I took the opportunity to have a couple of holidays out there. You need to go to one of these private lidos as the public beaches are filthy, with litter, rubber tyres and even an old fridge dumped on them! I chose to spend the days (while my wife was working) at Lido Excelsior. It's very clean with shallow waters. It has toilet facilities (bring your own loo roll) cafe and swimming ( extra fee applies to enter this) price breakdown. Parking €2 Entrance fee €4 Lounger €4 Umbrella €4 That's €14 per day for one person! There is a small discount for two people being €20 for two. So a short 10 day break on the beach equals.... (I'll let you do the math) EXPENSIVE. Steve and Fiona
