Alghero is my absolute favourity city here on Sardinia! It was founded by the genuese Family Doria back in the 12th century. It is the only "catalan city outside Spain", where you will find the street names in both languages and 60% of the inhabitants...More

The immediate environs are busy and steeped in ancient character, looking rather like buildings have been stacked upon one another. Fascinating area of the Old City.

Located near the Giardini Pubblici (public gardens). It's a 14th-century tower, remaining part of Porta a Terra, one of the two main gates into the medieval Alghero. 23 metres high, it has a panoramic terrace - however we were too late to get in.

We spent many hours wondering the narrow streets in this part of Alghero. Beautiful churches, scenic buildings, a beautiful "garden" street and the seaside promenade - beautiful sunsets here! If you descent on the shore below the fortified walls you can also take a nice...More

As you head into the old town, this magnificent tower "guards the way". beautiful example of one of the few Spanish towers that still exist in Alghero.

Beautiful aragonese tower just in the center of city. It is still in good condition and is one of the most important tower in Alghero.

I walked around the old port area. I started on my bicycle but the streets are very rough cobblestones and it just is easier to walk, particularly if you have rather narrow tires. It is a pleasant old town but not particularly spectacular.

One of the ancient towers of the old fortifications of the city. You can climb up thi sone (for free), which is a bit of a climb, but the views on top are worth it!

Hi, the problem with this website is that plenty of photos posted to this attraction are taken all around Old Town. The fact is that this particular tower lies in the corner of Via Roma. You go uphill along that street and... More
