You walk down a busy modern street then almost out of nowhere these gates appear. They took our breath away by day. Stay until the sun goes down. Walk on over and see them by spotlight. They are spectacular.

This is the entrance to the old city, part of once city walls. Very beautiful architecture and a starting point beyond which Verona will make you stunned by its beauty.

This is the main gate of the old fortress walls that were surrounding the old city of Verona. After you cross it you will immediately start seeing the Arena of Verona and soon will be lost in the streets of the city.

This marks the entrance to the historic centre of Verona. As you leave look to the far right and you will find a bust of Shakespeare. Why have a bust of an English playwright? Well the famous Romeo & Juliet is set in the city...More
