Murano, Burano and Torcello Half-Day Sightseeing Tour

5,014 reviews
This sightseeing tour allows you to see three islands in the Venetian Lagoon in half a day. Visitors often visit Murano—well-known for its glass-blowing factory—but fewer make it to Burano and Torcello, with their lace-making shops and ornate palaces and churches. The tour also offers two departure times a day, making it easier to fit into your schedule.

I can not say enough about our experience as from the moment I contacted the shop months prior to Carnival they really took care of us. They sent us some info on pricing, we organized our fitting time, were given many options and were able to give an idea of what we were looking for so that we did not show up on carnival and nothing was left. When we finally did arrive they took soooooooooo much time with us for the fitting and really really cared about us being happy with our decisions. I can not tell you how many outfits, hats and masks we annoyed them with trying on before choosing (but they never stopped smiling and helping us). We had a small issue with costume pants ( I can not stand the heat) so when we came back they swapped the full underpants out for calf leggings only at no extra charge. Really they just wanted us to be happy with our purchase. They place was super busy and it was DEFINITELY apparent they did not need our business but I felt like we got the VIP treatment regardless. I just wish most places still operated in such a customer service way as I would gladly recommend them as much as I would this place (but sadly most do not). In summary the team there is TOP NOTCH, the selection is HUGE, the pricing is THE BEST IN VENICE for carnival if you do multiple days and you will DEFINITELY leave happy/satisfied. Thank you again guys as you MADE OUR CARNIVAL!!!!!!!! Cheers, Everett

This is an historical costume maker who supplies Opera Houses, the Film Industry and historical theatres with the authentic costumes they require. It is a veritable Aladdin's cave of wonderful clothes and materials. Nicolao demonstrated the various types of fabrics and styles used in the making of the costumes which was of great interest.

We came across this most amazing shop by accident , its easy to find , just a little off the beaten path though. If you are after a period costume for Carnivale this is the place to hire your outfit from, they have everything . You can be a courtesan , a pope , henry the eighth, a peasant girl , the queen , any queen , you can be in any century of history , renaissance , victorian , middle ages , fifteenth century . they have thousands of costumes they hire out , mostly to theatrical companies, so someone famous might have worn your dress , imagine ! it might have been in a movie even , imagine !. they have all the wigs to go with the dress, they have the shoes too. They sell a wide variety of costumes , and you can even design your own idea and have it made up. Its not cheap , i saw great costumes on sale for a couple of thousand euros and some for a few hundred. Those magnificent black woollen or velvet capes the Venetians love are about 300 euros. The hostess Stefania ,is a very friendly and informative lady , advising that for carnival to book a costume come a few days before ( because the last minute is frantic and you might be disappointed) You can mail them first and ask for the period you are interested in , they will get organised and be ready to show you a selection of whats on offer for your requirement . Just the shop alone is like a museum of period fashion , I have never seen anything like it in my life , Even just a look in the window is worth it. Hiring a costume is not cheap but more reasonable than some other places that do so on the main street .... it depends on what costume you hire of course , a simple one is much less costly than a very elaborate one . This carnival ( february) my darling and I are going for a cardinal and a courtesan . ( a bit naughty and suggestive , I know) the fancy elaborate courtesan dress , with a very fancy wig ( maybe with a sailing ship in it ) and the cardinal dress for my darling is about 900 euros for the day . They alter the costume if it needs to be smaller or bigger as well. I think for all the fun you can have being a mannequin for the day in Venice , posing for thousands of photos , living in a bit of a fantasy as you prance around, not quite believing thats its something you would ever do ...its worth it . We will splash out this carnival time and get our costumes from the very helpful and charming Stefania from the Atelier Nicolao in Cannaregio.
