It was fun riding through the canals while one Gondolier was singing. He had a beautiful voice and many people were stopping on the bridges to enjoy the songs!

Away from the tourist bustle, Via Guiseppe Garibaldi is a wide thoroughfare that runs through the heart of Castello. It had a relaxed feel. It seemed more authentic, with locals outnumbering tourists. The street had a co-op, deli, bakery, cake shop etc with excellent prices....More

This street in the Castello district is named by a General Guiseppe Garibaldi. You will find a lot of shops, cafes and small restaurants which are only visited from locals who are living in this area around. So all the prices here are much cheaper...More

Nice street close to the main centre but far enough to feel the real Venice. Lots of shops, groceries, market and bars. Few restaurants but except a couple of them they are a bit disappointing.

If you along Riva degli Schiavoni (which turns into Riva something) after crossing a few small canal bridges you will see an unusually wide street. This is Via Garibaldi which is a part of a canal filled in back in the 19th century (if you...More

Piazza San Marco is certainly magnificent, but it's also generally jam-packed, so we now head to some of the quieter areas for a more relaxed, neighborhood feel, and Via Giuseppe Garibaldi fits the bill. It's a broad, straight thoroughfare with a number of restaurants and...More

Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri
