We try to stay in Santo Stefano...yes there are tourists (like us) but locals, children, dogs all moving and living their lives...a superb leather store, stationary store, two excellent bars, a gelateria...the Academia Bridge there too...

Heading to Pont dell'Accademia from St Marks Square, a logical path will find your in this peacful square, with a delightful single central statue, Monumento Niccolo Tommaseo

We crossed the ponti dell’Accademia to reach this square. In San Vidal church they have musical concerts. In the middle of the Square there is a statue of Nicholas Tommaseo. In another corner is the church of Santo Stefano which has some magnificent works of...More

Typical tourist trap - overpriced, with waiters who forgot long ago that if you want a tip you need to make just a little bit of effort to be friendly

After braving the crowds on the Accademia Bridge it is nice to find a large square that is not too busy . Place to eat and shop here.

This was right around the corner from our room and really which direction we would go. There are restaurants where we have had our best pizza. A good coffee shop / gelato.on one end shops the other water buses. Of course we loved it here...More
