Neighbourhood: San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Very rude
Jan 2019 • Friends
cashier very rude. I tried to pay with credit card for a 7 euro item and was told “I will not be taking credit card for this. Absolutely not” and I responded “oh I’m sorry I have no euros” to which she said “well you will not be purchasing then”. I understand why I couldn’t purchase with card, but it was a very rude interaction and I won’t be returning.

Great service and great pieces!
Jul 2018 • Solo
I went to F.G.B during my first full day in Venice to get some souvenirs and gifts. The man helping me didn't speak English, and I speak very little Italian, but he was patient and helped me choose out some great things. I loved the store and the experience so much I went back there a second time (I realized I got gifts for others but nothing for myself!). This store has more small items and not some of the beautiful large items you see in the windows of several shops, but if you're looking for affordable, smaller Murano glass pieces and friendly service, this is the place to go!

Some really interesting Murano glass jewellery as well as some touristy stuff
Apr 2017 • Couples
We stopped off here by chance when my wife spotted a perfect necklace to go with a dress for a special occasion. We chatted to the owner and were interested to find out that they make their own stuff, having started out on Murano - it appears to be of high quality, and the necklace was very nice indeed. Not particularly cheap, but very well-made.

Beautiful Glass Art---Especially the Insects!
Feb 2017 • Solo
I sought out this glass artist because a friend set me a task: she regretted not purchasing some amazing glass insects on her last trip to Venice. And glass insects can't be found very easily, I soon realized. I am SO happy she gave me the the challenge of finding it (with no location or name to go on). As others have said, the shop itself is worth a visit---very quaint and charming. Unlike most other galleries around San Marco, this store is run by the artist himself (and his wife). I feel good knowing 100% of my purchase supports the person who made the art. Excellent packing, too. Everything made it home safely, and my friend is thrilled.

Glass artisan, check out the insects.
Aug 2016 • Couples
One of the coolest aspects of this shop is the building itself, free standing and unattached to any other. Rare I would say in Venice. I was wanting to find this shop while I was in Venice and just happened to come across it by accident while wandering the maze of streets. My goal was to purchase a few of the glass insects which are very realistic and very delicate. This was my first day in Italy of a 5 week trip. I am happy to say that I bought 6 of the insects and all made it back to the States intact. The shop keeper did not seem too concerned. Very worth your while if only to get you out into the streets exploring. Check out the insects the antennae are unbelievably fine.

Small shop in a beautiful, old brick stand alone building. Nice merchandise and friendly people, great for last minute gifts.

Artistry and Service!
Jun 2015 • Couples
This shop is a little gem. You won't find the 'hard sell' of the big showrooms here, only a warm and friendly couple (she in the shop and he making beautiful objects in the back) who are delighted to share their love of glass with the visitor and take infinite pains to help the customer, no matter how small the purchase. We watched Sig. Bruno make a unicorn for an Australian couple with the most exquisite skill. We left with a gorgeous 'appendiborsa' and the most charming of little glass birds. It now site on our windowsill in Scotland, reminding us of a blissfully happy time in Venice.

Beautiful!
Jul 2013
I bought the cutest glass ladybug in 2001 that I had for years until it was stolen from my desk at work. I've kept the wrapping and finally found a listing for the business. I'm hoping to get a replacement on my next visit.
