My wife and I visited this new museum on May 28, 2010. The large, imposing, fortress-like 2-story building occupies the entire pie-shaped point at the southern entrance to the Grand Canal. The structure itself was worth seeing for its architectural drama both inside and outside....More

We spent 2 lovely hours in the building rehabilitated by Francois Pinault (and à few greatly qualified friends). The space is just great - airy, respectful of the original material (beams, Terra cotta tiles, bricks). The art left us a bit cold. The cafeteria is...More

I know that Damien Hirst is a controversial artist nowadays. Like Jeff Koons, he inspires a lot of anger at his flaunting of his artistic wealth, while so many people who probably have just as much talent struggle. In any case, while this collection is...More

I found this one of the best view spots in Venice. You have an excellent view of all the Venice hot spots from here and much more, without having to stand in the middle of the big crowds. Also, you are almost 100% surrounded by...More

Most people see this vantage point from afar - the pther side, however viewing the other side from here gives a new and vibrant perspective - less common but no less beautifully stunning.

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with
street artists, students, painters, sculptors,
restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and
heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's
collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for
evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries
cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica
buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob
