Kayak, bike and taste in the Sile Park

Starting with a sit-on-top from our headquarters in Lughignano di Casale sul Sile we descend the river in favor of the current until we reach, after about an hour of paddling, the hidden port of S. Elena di Silea where you can stop . We return, then into the water and in another hour we arrive at Casale sul Sile, where the bicycles are waiting. From here, just follow the signs of the cycle path to retrace the course of the Sile backwards, skirting it to the starting point of the activity. The distance covered in the water is about 8 km, as well as that by bicycle.

This is a neighborhood church a little off the tourist "map" but still very interesting. It dates from the 15 - 16th centuries and has some lovely architecture, worth a stop if you are strolling around Treviso (within 15 minutes walking from the main square). We went specifically because it is where my grandfather was baptized, so it held special personal meaning for me. But like many towns in Italy, the "secondary" sights can also be very interesting ans of course are less crowded. Most are near to the main tourist places so it is fun to wander off and find some surprises like this.

This is a lovely different looking building in Treviso it's so different it really stands out from the rest . Well worth seeing this it reminds you of dutch gables but it's more like architecture from nearby Lombardy.

Construction began on this fascinating gothic church in the historic walled section of Treviso in 1473. It is where my great grandfather was baptized in 1875 and my great great grandparents were married in 1870. The original hand-written records are available from the church office. Some of the church was damaged during WWII, but it retains a lot of original detail and is an architectural historian's dream. It's worth taking a walk through, or attending a mass for the full experience.
