Stayed in a hotel/townhouse in Piazza dei Signori, just alongside this clock tower, which struck on the hour every hour - not bad for a monument of this age!

This Clock Tower, built in the 15th Century, is dominating the Piazza dei Signori. The Clock tower is immediately recognizable as Venetian by the beautiful 24hr dial, almost a copy of the one on the Torre dell'Orlogio in Venice on Piazza San Marco. The five...More

The clock is a highlight of Padova and sits at the end of a bustling square that always seems lively. You can't visit the building itself, just admire the clock from the square and then shop, eat or people watch. Well worth stopping to see.

To enjoy your time in the piazza, grab a table at one of the cafes. It's a good viewing point to appreciate the clock tower. After dark, it's nicely illuminated for a good image. Wait for the hourly set of bells ringing.

Great architecture and design. This building is situated on the Piazza dei Signori where frequently you might find different public events in which you can take part.

The Torre dell'Orologio is amazing astronomical clock - considered the oldest preserved clock of it's type in the world. Situated at one end of the beautiful Piazza dei Signori, be sure to look for the nearby winged lions proclaiming Venice's control over Padua.

We were just walking about taking in the views when we came across the Astronomical clock set in a modest tower. It would have been nice to visit inside but not sure if it is possible. It makes a nice focal point to the square...More

A wonderful building, well maintained and in very good shape. If you see it the first time, for example from the Piazza della Frutta, it is just breathtaking. Don't miss this superb building if you are visiting Padua.

Italy is an architectural lover's delight. Padua/Padova is no exception. The advantage is that it isn't as packed with tourists as, say...Venice (ugh!). The clock tower and piazza is worth a visit. Plan to stay in Padua/Padova at least a couple of days or more.
