What is it with this town. Parking nightmare. We broke our trip here - some big mistake (maybe true of Italy generally in August, but that's another story). So little to see. Pass on by!

The Roman ruins are awe-inspiring, and the city itself is delightful. We stopped at a bakery and ended up conversing with the owner and her husband, who owns the shop next door. Both were so genuinely friendly. That feeling permeated our visit. We especially enjoyed...More

"Romans put it there, and it still stands!" - that was my husband exclaiming as he saw the ancient Roman Arc. There is a very real feel of the ancient history here, and it doesn't look being that far away in Aosta.

Went to Aosta with no expectations and was overwhelmed by the small, upscale shops, restaurants, and historic Roman arch and theater.

Aosta old town is an enchanting place with a lot of small shops and cafes. They make the old town colourful, although most of the houses are the same dull grey-brown colour. And then there are roman ruins practically in the middle of the town,...More

Gorgeous views of the slightly snow covered mountains, really quaint and a pretty place to visit. The people from the village were friendly and family friends made us feel very comfortable.

Aosta is a beautiful town with lots of interesting roman ruins, cobblestone streets and beautiful shops. We visited the Praetorian Gate, Arch of Augusutus, Church of Saint Orso, the Roman Theatre and the Aosta Cathedral dedicated to the Assumption. The beautiful facade of the cathedral...More

Most of the old town of Aosta is pedestrian, so leave your car at the hotel, stroll past the Arco d’Augusto, through the « Porta Pretoria » and enjoy the cobblestone streets. Wonderful little shops, great pastries... and lots of churches, museums and galleries to visit. Really...More

Aosta is a charming town with many Roman ruins, including a huge memorial arch built in the early first century. We walked across an arched, cobblestone-paved bridge still in use from Roman times. Pretty cool.
