This was the first “home” of the Holy Shroud after its arrival from Chambéry. San Lorenzo has an extraordinary cupola (completed in 1680) designed by Guarino Guarini and exemplifies the baroque style. The Duke Emanuele Filiberto had the church dedicated to the Saint after the victory of the Battle of San Quintino. In piazza Castello.

All the churches in Torino are free to visit and this one is as stunning as the others. You'll be spoilt for choice and photos, but none of them blur into the others. They're all worth seeing.

Free entry. Next to Palace Real. Surprisingly nice church and the outside does not do it justice and give an indication of the inside. It has links to the shroud- so does get very busy as the Shroud was housed here.

Like many other reviews have said do not let the unimpressive exterior put you off visiting inside. Personally we make a point of being super quiet in all the fantastic churches we visit. Sadly that position appears not to be shared by many other visitors....More

This church looks tiny from the outside and not much to look at, but what awaits you inside is simply awesome. It has a wonderous high dome ceiling with paintings and windows that let in the light and huge pillars adorn the inside with a...More

The church is amazingly beautiful like in the fairytales. The cupola is so adorable, this is a must visit in the city.

This was one of those mind-boggling feats of decoration! We were lucky to have a volunteer docent (an Italian man who had excellent English ability) who took us around and told us a lot about the Church and the architect, Guarino Guarini.

In my mind the most beautiful church in Turin. A jewel not to be missed, despite the fact that it doe snot have a "real" facade for historic reasons.

Wonderful smallish church which houses the Turin shroud. Not crowded at all which allows plenty of time to ponder the shroud.

What an amazing cathedral with the most interesting architecture. Be sure to get a guide to explain to you all details. It is not enough to just look around. One needs detailed information about this wonderful building!
