This is a scenic nature lake. There are pathways along the road and lake where you can stroll into the town. Numerous restaurants and shops to amble through. So picturesque and the locals are very welcoming. Wonderful area. Numerous churches with lovely frescoes.

Beautiful small lake that is worth visiting. There are nice things to see on the small island and the city is very cute.

We've previously visited Lago Maggiore, Lago di Como, Lago di Garda and a bunch of little lakes in the Dolomites, so we thought we'd try Lago d'Orta. It's very pretty, a nice relaxed pace, little boats to the island and towns. We stayed in Orta...More

A beautiful and peaceful body of water, able to match the stunning beauty of it’s more famous nearby lakes but with out the relentless hordes. Orta itself is a gem, with beautiful views and fascinating houses. The public ferry provides services to San Gullio island...More

We went to the village of Orta which is well worth a visit. You can park near the village but can’t drive into it unless you have a blue badge. It’s a short 7 or 8 minute walk to the village. Parking is €1 per...More

Many people have visited the Italian Lakes....Maggiore, Como, Garda....but not many have been to Orta. A much smaller lake than the others and for that reason more intimate. The market town of Omegna lies at the northern end, which is very beautifull to visit, but...More

This is the most delightful place, classy and unspoilt with beautiful views across the lake, vastly superior to the other Italian lakes, much quieter and less touristy but with some nice little shops and some excellent restaurants.

Shhhh! Don’t let the word get out that this is the lake to visit. Three words to describe it.... beautiful, tranquil, picturesque combined with friendly people. We will be back!

There is a beach on the way towards Garda. I just passed by so I know not how it is. Probably there are more small beaches. The lake is quite long.
