The current bridge is a reconstruction of the one destroyed during the second world war. Just a few meters upstream you can see the remains of the Roman bridge.

Even though the original bridge was destroyed this 'new' one built after second world war is very much in keeping and has many of the older features.

This bridge was built after the war but has Roman and medieval roots which you can still see at the base. Spanning the Ticino river, it is a fine entrance to Pavia.

On our day trip to Pavia from Milan we visited the supermarket, made up a picnic and chose to sit by the river to eat it whilst admiring this charming bridge. There is an information board close by.
