Oldest church in Mantova - originally built in the 11th century. Wonderful frescoes. Small size and octagonal design much different from Renaissance churches.

We were nearly at the end of our time during a recent trip to northern Italy and gave ourselves one afternoon for Mantova (Mantua). It would have been nice to have had at least one more full day since the town was great. We simply...More

We were sightseeing Mantua, went to the Basilica di Sant'Andrea and saw this old little church just across the square. It's really small, nothing much to see in it, we spent a couple of minutes looking around. You can read about its history when you're...More

I am very fond of Romanesque churches. This one dates from the 12th century & was lost among a cluster of warehouses for centuries. The photos showing it in its 'found' condition are very interesting. The circular plan reflects the Church of the Holy Sepulcher...More

I guess the most interesting element of the building is the architecture. Perfectly round constructed of bricks. A donation is a good idea.

Popped our heads inside for a quick peek at this ancient round church. We took a good photo and departed. Didn’t take long.

Situated in the centre of Mantua, this 11th century church is worth even a short visit. Entry is free, donations appreciated. The circular church or Rotunda is a quiet place to sit away from the hustle and bustle outside. It is mostly brick, presumably contemporary...More

This is a very small and ancient church. It was built over some other ancient temple (I've been told the whole story, but obviously forgot). Free entrance, some frescos, and just have a quick look or sit down and look around and enjoy the atmosphere.

Right in the centre of Mantova, this is one of the oldest pieces of architecture, very particular in its circular shape, well kept both inside and outside. No fee to visit, offerings appreciated.

A small round church in the city centre, surely worth a quick visit. Peculiar place. And it's free to wander around
