We took a trip on the cable car last week, I was a little anxious to begin with, but it's actually OK. There is a long span between a couple of the pylons which is very impressive. It's worth breaking the journey to visit the...More

Mottarone affords some of the best views of the lake. Very fun and I would highly recommend. We enjoyed it so much, we HIKED it two days later. I wouldn't recommend that unless you are fit and prepared for a strenuous hike! August 2017

In fairness we only went to the first stop and did not take the chair lift up to the very top but from where we were there wasn't that much to see - no a lot of ooohing and aahhing. At our level there didn't...More

Go early (before 10) to avoid the crowds and check the weather beforehand and pick a sunny day. You will not be disappointed. The cable car itself is very smooth and quick, although you are tightly packed in. Near the top of the mountain you...More

It is a nice thing to reach mottarone but do not expect the most spectacular views on your way. You will be happy to see the views at the top.

Regular cable car to the almost top of the mountain - if you want to go to the actual top then you have to get a chairlift. Service is frequent though note they will squeeze in as many people as possible!

This funicular has two stops - Alpino (for the Alpine Gardens) and Mottarone, for the views and the connecting gondola to the very top, where you can see across all 7 lakes. The day we went it was a little cloudy, so views were ok,...More

We loved both the journey to the top and the breathtaking views. We went early and queues were okay and pretty good value. Journey takes about 20 minutes and you should allow 20 minutes at the top a least to enjoy the scenery. Worth checking...More

I think if you get there around 1000 you should be ok but they seemed to give priority to cyclists. Personally I wouldn't wait for the last car but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't leave anybody up there. Weather forecast... More
