We visited the battistero with a joint ticket to the Torrazzo. The place is small but quite impressive, with a very peculiar shape and history. It can be seen in just 10 minutes, as the guy at the entrance of the Torrazzo advised us. Interested...More

The Cathedral was closed so we had some time before it open. Paid the small entrance fee and went in. For us to see a separate building for Baptism is unusual. The decor was interesting. Nice art

I've seen plenty of towers and churches, but this was special. Used only for babtism ceremonies, but still so massive. The acoustics were really great. Well worth the extra 3€ to enter.

It seems that many Italian cities compete with one another via their Cathedrals, Squares and Baptistries. Cremona does so too. Alas, its Baptistry is overwhelmed by its surrounding buildings. Yes, it is nice, but does not seem to this reviewer to be among Italy's most...More

The octagonal Baptistery is something special in Lombardi. This one is huge inside, built from brick. There is an altar, the statue of Gabriel from the top of the building and of course the marmor sacrarium.

Northern Italy cathedral cities sometimes have octagonal baptistries. This one is exceptional, highlighted with marble from nearby Verona. A small fee is charged to maintain it and for a little more the visitor is able to climb the nearby tower. During our visit, a local...More

The architect of this baptistry of St John anticipated the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence by two centuries. The construction was started in 1167 in the Romanesque style. Originally it had 4 doors but only the northern door remains open. This leads...More

If you buy the combo ticket for the tower, this is included. Architecture and statues are interesting. Plan on 15- 30 minutes here. No climbing required.
