Due to excessive recent rains, we were told that it was impossible to tour Monterosso. I never believe what I’m told so I decided to attempt it myself. We rode to the Monterosso train station then tried to walk to the town but were blocked...More

After walking along the beach, one comes to the historic part of town. Again, the streets were steep and narrow, with shops and cafes lining them these days for tourists. At the top, there is a small piazza where two religious buildings stand side by...More

Monterosso al Mare is a beautiful town; the only one with a beach in Cinque Terre. Somewhat crowded by day, but still a great visit

Narrow streets with interesting shops and café’s. Crowded during the day, but more pleasant in the late afternoon and evening when the tour buses have left. This was our third time in Cinque Terra and we are very happy we were first here in 1996,...More

It’s worth coming a couple of days - very nice shops, restaurants, views. Bigger and less crowded. We still love Manarola but could see how this would also be a nice place to stay, especially for ones who can’t handle lots of hills and stairs.

This is the largest village and it had nice shops and restaurants. Wandering around we found 2 very nice churches and enjoyed the charming houses. We started the morning here and it was not crowded at all on October 10th.

Village with a small historical center but with a nicest and biggest beach of all Cinque Terre places.

The title gives you a bit of an idea of what to expect but it's still worth a visit. Quite a few other tourists had the same idea but, because it's reasonably large, this wasn't an issue as far as being squashed. Lots of opportunities...More

Loved this although my favourite was still the Venazza of the 5 Terre. Monterosso is by far the biggest with lots more restaurants and shops Ferry takes you to all towns at 18 euro per person hop on and off
