We started at around 5pm in Monterosso, and appearently from then the hike is free! We didn't even see that many tourists at that time. Though we had to hurry a little to catch the view at Vernazza before nightfall, we enjoyed this beautiful path....More

I hiked this solo in a dress and Teva sandals with a hangover. Yes it is rocky, yes there are areas you need to be careful but essentially it’s just a whole lot of stairs up to the most amazing views of the coast line,...More

We hiked this today and fortunately followed online advice to hike the trail northward from Vernazza to Monterosso. When we neared the end of the hike, we felt very sorry for those just starting out not realizing the long Billy goat climb they faced, with...More

This was our fourth day of hiking in the Cinque Terre. Today’s walk from Montessoro(via the Monasterio de Seviestre) to Vernazza was enjoyable. There were a few tricky downhill sections, but overall, the walk was quite pleasant and doable in less than 3 hours.

we hiked from Monterosso to Vernazza and the first part of the hike is all uphill on loads of steps of varying sizes. At times the path was really narrow too. We had our hiking sticks with us and were wearing hiking boots, thank goodness....More

There are a lot of steps to navigate. The effect on your calf's is severe!!! However, great views, but go early as it gets busy by mid morning, and also hot, as it is quite sheltered amongst the olive trees and vineyards. Allow one and...More

As an avid hiker, I enjoyed the challenge and beauty of this ancient trail. We especially enjoyed the unexpected accordian and tamborine player half way through our hike. Thanks!

The day after arriving in Monterosso, my wife and I put on tennis shoes and tacked the trail to Vernazza. It was helpful to read prior reviews and know that it had difficult spots and such and we found that to be true - but...More

The hiking trail is not really natural, it leads almost all the time up or down through rugged and rocky staircases. Not really enjoying the walk even with good shoes. Panoramas or spots with view - there are some spots. But most of the route...More

Highly recommend hiking if you want to discover Cinque Terre. The scenery is magical and the hike energizing. The footpath is doable with kids but keep in mind that some areas are a bit steep. Enjoy

I didn’t find the trail between Monterosso and Vernazza too difficult. The first section is a bit of a challenge as there are quite a few stairs but just stop and take breaks. The rest of the trail has some ups but nothing... More

The booth was open at both ends on the day we walked, though apparently it had been closed on previous days. You can pay at the booth but it must be in cash. We also saw the Vernazza booth being shut about 1:30 but that may... More
