Visiting the sites, I registered several times that people bought only the basic entrance fee for the church without the tower or even the basement. Even with limited time I can only recommend not to save 3 euros and miss the best!

Bell tower from like 1100, built on top of (still partially visible, also in the tower) mosaic from around 300. Quite some, uneven steps (but what to expect when they are nearly a millennium old), giving a great view of the town, and the beautiful...More

The view was really nice. You can see all the area from the top...the vineyards. But get prepared for over 200 stairs and to meet other people on your way up (or down) in super tight space. But we deffinitely enjoyed!

It is really nice to climb the tower, you get rewarding views of the surroundings and you can see some artifacts in the ground level.

An impressive campanile, it helps to anchor an imaginary triangle with the cemetery and basilica. It is one of the tallest structures in the area and there is some notable artwork visible from the base.

We did not climb to the top as stairs are narrow and there is nothing to hang on to but it is worth a look for the mosaics in the tower base

the only reason to pay for the admission is to look (from two stories away) at the mosaics which were originally part of the ‘north hall’ of the basilica (see my reports on these two attractions elsewhere) and were captured (and partly mangled) to become...More

The tower displays even more mosaic art on the ground floor, so its worth climbing the first few steps to get there. Afterwards if you are fit enough there are about 130 uneven circular steps up to the belfry which offers extensive views of the...More
