A fairly long hot walk from city centre this is the last of the World Heritage sites we visited. Interesting architecturally, it can be viewed externally from the park without paying to enter the site itself,

We enjoyed walking down here in the evening & exploring the adjoining park and its old Venetian fortress walls--glad we say the the mausoleum, but not sure we missed much by coming after closing time!

a 15min walk from the train station, but its a fascinating remnant worth the visit. They have toilet and shop and ticket booth

I’m sure it’s supposed to be a coffin but it would be the largest lump of carved porphyry that I have ever seen. Not much compared to the other churches and tombs.

I'm glad we went but don't buy the multisite ticket, we did any only went to the mausoleum, visiting the San Vitale you need another ticket. From an historical point of view it has significance but if you're expecting the wow of the other UNESCO...More

A bit off the common treck this mausoleum is well worth a visit. It's one of the few buildings built by the Goths of Migration Period fame. And to think that the dome is all one large piece, with the twelve angles carved from it....More
