I found this basilica very beautiful - both outside and inside, and mostly because of its bell tower. It is known as Cosmedin - ornate in Greek, as it is, as my pictures show, much ornate. There are ancient wall paintings, a beautiful baldacchinno, and...More

Has some great history. There were basically no lines when we went, though it snowed. St. Valentine's skull is here. Has very old paintings on the upper parts of the nave.

Ridiculously long queue, but if like me you love the film ‘Roman Holiday’ then it’s a must! The church is well worth a visit afterwards.

Just pass by the line of people waiting to take a picture of their hands in the mouth of an ancient sewer cover and enter this very atmospheric church which at the time I was there was celebrating a latin mass.

So, stand in line and see and put your hand into "the mouth of truth" and tell the kids the myth of hands being bit off if you tell a lie. They'll love it. But the church is interesting and most people don't even bother...More

Cute place with friendly staff. This church was warm and the people who worked there were welcoming. My daughter went to cover herself lol and he let her know that rule only applies to women without sleeves. Beautiful inside with the opportunity to light candles...More

If you can bear the line leading to the mouth of truth then you should definitely check this church out. It's a little off the beaten path but this medieval church is worth a quick stop. The church contains the bones of St. Valentine and...More

Due to a huge line of tourists outside for Bocca della Verita, this church is so often missed by tours and solo tourists. It's a very neat church with crown jewel of bones of St. Valentine, the patron of lovers, proudly displayed along the left...More

I thought we would be alone but the line to take a picture at the Bocca de la Verita, where Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck improvised their famous scene is out the door. Still worth it. It reminds you of the extraordinary power of movies.

Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is
Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork
of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and
embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the
vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around
the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of
surprises like the clever little keyhole at the
Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find
