The square, which has an area of 4,500 square meters, has recently been refurbished and is a strategic hub of the city. It is a very popular and not only for tourists, since it is a transit area for many Romans. In the square there are cafes and ice cream parlors. It has always been a place full of people, especially since it is located next to the Vatican City and St. Peter's Basilica. The square owes its name to the monument of the Risorgimento, built in honor of the unification of Italy. In 2003, during a solemn ceremony, the "Equestrian Monument to the Carabiniere" was inaugurated. It has been defined as the crossroad, the hinge between the Borgo and Prati districts, with the buildings all around the square and the Vatican walls surmounted by the dome of St. Peter's basilica as a theatrical backdrop.

Meeting point for Vatican tours. Apart from that there really is nothing to enthuse over. Tram stop and eateries. If it wasn't a tour meeting point I doubt many would bother to go there.

We walked through Piazza del Risorgimento a couple times during our stay in Rome. Our B&B was just 5 or 6 blocks away, and we had lunch at one of the many cafes, bars and geleterias that line the piazza.

This is a large asphalt square, with a few trees, located across the street from Vatican City at the foot of Via di Porta Angelica. It is a very crowded area, with vendor stalls and a bus stop, taxi stand and a trolley stop. There are many places to eat, drink and shop located around this area.
