It was cathedral and basilica day in Rome for us and San Andra della Valle would be the third one today that we visited. We discovered this place just waking back to the main center of the city and decided to take a look. It...More

So maybe it's not as glamorous as a few of the other basilicas (particularly the papal ones) but Saint Andrews (of the Valley) is a stunning building. The fresco of his martyrdom is worth the visit on its own; but there's a few gems to...More

We skipped the visit to Saint Peters because of overcrowding while visiting the Vatican Museums and a few days later stumbled upon this remarkable Basilica. The visit was free which included an audio guide. They only ask for a donation which we gladly gave. The...More

Basilica di St. Andrea della Valle is located near to Pantheon. It has the 3rd largest dome in Rome. The paintings and artworks inside are nice and worth to pay a visit inside while travel in this area.

Compared with the crowds in Pantheon or Piazza Navona, this church is surprisingly quiet. It is a good place to appreciate Italian artwork and paintings. The management team is also excellent. Magnifying glasses are all over the church for the visitors to study the frescoes...More

This is a beautiful church with ornate ceiling and dome, frescos everywhere you look, beautiful altar, a pieta and other nice statues. It is located on a side street across the Tiber River from the Vatican. It was built in 1591 by Pope Pius II.

Another church near the Pantheon and well worth a view. St Andrew of the Valle has the third largest dome in Rome as well as nice baroque artwork. The church is linked to a setting in Puccini's opera Tosca.

This lovely and beautiful basilica has many chapels and fabulous ceilings. We were pointed to it as our guide dropped us off at our nearby hotel and visited the next morning. We also stopped by another time for a more lengthy stay to take in...More

As with most of the best places, I stumbled in here without realizing what it was from the outside (an easy thing to do in a city with landmarks everywhere you look). Definitely worth a quick stop, just remember to look up!
