We walked up here for the first time after several previous visits to Rome. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a great view of the city and it wasn’t busy or crowded at all.

We walked along a winding road from Vatican to this Piazzale. The road is nice and lets you see the city from above with some view points along it. The Piazzale itself is impressive.

On one side of the street from the Piazzale you can see a panorama of Rome. On the other is a lot of greenery. And in one corner you can see Saint Peter’s Basilica. The sunsets over the green side so it wouldn’t be great...More

This visit ended with a bang with the cannon blast at noon. Incredible view of city. Several spots to see great views of city. The cannon blast is really loud. This is a real hidden gem when in Rome.

Our driver included this our last day in Rome. Beautiful views of the city & everyday at noon, a cannon is fired, in a centuries old tradition, so people can set their watch to the correct time.

For absolutely stunning views of Rome, you must go to Piazzale Garibaldi at the top of the Gianicolo Hill. This tranquil square offers an incredible panoramic view of Rome, and is especially breathtaking at sunset. During the day, families bring their children to play or...More

This is a Piazza high above the city. You can, as I did, take a taxi there up to Janiculum Hill which is among the highest in Rome. There are some great views from up there, a windy taxi ride up. There is a statue...More

It's a nice shady walk from Trastevere via the Piazzale to St. Peter's, but don't expect to be walking in a park as most of us think of parks. You're walking along a road. Best to take this walk to the viewing spot in the...More

Excellent view of Rome, you can see across the whole city. Beautiful streets to walk through on your way here from Piazza Navona

We timed our visit to coincide with the noon day cannon which I heard about on Rome videos but had never seen before. There were lots of people there. I did not expect the shockwave after the cannon was fired. Well worth the effort.

Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded
postcard, a little worn around the edges but still
charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering
streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and
overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible
mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of
entertainment - a rotating set of street performers
entertains almost every night, and unforgettable
