Definitely do a guided tour otherwise you're just aimlessly walking around, as good as you might think that is. Tour also lets you skip the queue, great in high season. The guides know the the best places to see and where to find shade. I...More

We visited Pompeii under our own steam from Sorrento using the packed, standing room only, Circumvesuviana train (4.90Euro return) to Pompeii Gavi. Ignore the ticket touts immediately outside the station and walk the few metres to the entrance where it is 15.00Euro to enter. The...More

My entire family loved our visit to Pompeii! We spent about 4 hours and could have spend even more time. We used our Rick steve’s book we had purchased prior to the trip as our map and info while there. I recommend visiting the Archeological...More

We spent a few hours exploring this fascinating place but our visit was too short. It is incredible to be able to walk around this old city that still has buildings standing and be transported back in time. It can be easily reached by train...More

What an amazing place, you could never cover this in a day as there is so much to see, it’s hard to believe that this was all covered up. You get a real insight into life back then but the architecture is unbelievable. This is...More

Another example of where tourism has gone mad and the experience was not really enjoyable. Apart from actually being at this amazing site, there was no real enjoyment being with a large tour group. You are just part of many many tourists being herded through...More

The tour was very nice. It was several hours and there were tickets available right outside the bus stop to the tour. We did have to wait for almost an hour for the group to be large enough, but for the price the tour was...More

We didn’t really know what to expect as we are not avid historians but this was incredible and we were so glad we did it. We took the walking tour so our guide could give us all the information our own knowledge was lacking. It...More

We recently had the privilege of a visit to Pompeii ruins and we were totally in awe of the whole place. Parked easy enough opposite in one of the many campsites offering all day parking. Only cost about €5 so perfect. There were a number...More

Hi, Herculaneum is about 20 minutes train ride from Pompeii's "Villa dei Misteri" station. Alternatively, by car it's approx. 15 min., and 7 km. away from Pompeii
