Visually spectacular, but rather heavily restored so that a lot of what you see of the seating is not original. Dating back to the 3rd century BC and enlarged under Augustus to be able to hold 5000 people. Several well preserved ancillary buildings are also...More

The big theatre is so well preserved that you can perfectly imagine what was like to see a drama few days before the Vesuvius erupted. A place to rest as well

Must visit this part of the archeological site, very intact and amazing how well preserved it is. Still used for concerts today.

The amphitheatre is still used today for concerts. There were posters on some of the wall showing that Pink Floyd had performed there. It is built in the Greek style, within a natural cavity in the landscape and could seat up to 5,000 spectators.

One of the best parts of Pompeii. It's well maintained enough for you to sit in the theatre rows. We took a break on the top rows and admired the view across Pompeii. A great place to visit halfway round to rest your feet.

A very well organised and structured guided walking tour of Pompei ruins. Our very knowledgeable and personable guide Ciro took us back in time to outline the history and demise of Pompei. Excellent value; would definitely recommended.
