This was one of the highlights for me personally. The grand theatre is still mostly there, even a section at the top. You can imagine how incredible it must have been. Go to the top and take a picture and then have a look around...More

The size of the place is impressive and even more so is the sound quality. Don't be surprised to hear someone testing it. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

The sheer scale and architecture here take your breath away - we should have more places like this to see concerts, etc. in in the 21st century.

The Romans knew a lot about sound before the era of electronic amplification - stand in the center and sing a little song and you'll be amazed how 'loud' your own voice sounds to everyone in the theatre.

Just an amazing outdoor construction gem built over 2,000 years ago with a design and acoustics that are stellar today! This is a must see while in Pompeii! Spectacular!

Think some of the reviews are a little confusing as they are for the coliseum which is different from the theatre. On the day we went there was work in progress so we could only view from the outside. Shame because it looked in fabulous...More

We weren't expecting this huge theatre and just happened upon it as we were walking around Pompeii. It is in very good condition and has a good ambience. It helps give an ides of the size of the original City.
