Just getting in to the Lupanare is a trial. Six feet from the entrance is a flimsy barrier across the road with Signora Jobsworth forbidding passage entailing a 600 yard detour in 30C heat to arrive at the entrance. I could understand it if it...More

Of all the spots in pompei, this is probably the biggest attraction. I went and saw the house, and there was quite a line. When there is a long line, the park attendant was asking everybody to just single file through, and to not stop....More

We were lucky enough to fined no line at this small house and there were only a few people inside. The pictures on the wall shows clearly what services were rendered. I was just astonished that those services could be done on those small hard...More

Well preserved, probably because the house had two floors. The paintings in the walls and above the doors are quite well preserved and indicated the services provided in every room. A very interesting spot, don't miss it!

This is a tiny back street house of ill repute which of course generates a fair bit of interest so we found a short queue to get in and because it is so small you just file through. It is all very basic and functional...More

Out of all of Pompeii this might be the most preserved spot. The art work on the walls is still very visible. And the building is covered. It’s small and there is a line but it’s worth the short wait.

One of the best preserved spots in pompeii ruins. The pictures on the walls are also well preserved and indicate the services that used to be available.

All of Pompeii is fascinating, but the Lupanare is particularly interesting as a place where men went to engage in carnal discourse with ladies of the night (and probably, daytime). Colorful frescoes on the wall offer sort of an explicit menu of services rendered back...More

Another of the well preserved treasures of Pompeii. It was interesting to hear the comments as our guide took us through the building. i was amazed to see the concrete beds was well as the art on the walls. Most interesting.

Some things never change...our tour guide walked us through the ancient brothel, complete with erotic art, beds with stone pillows, and indoor toilet facilities! Although the ancient art is not entirely suitable for young visitors, it’s quite amazing how beautifully preserved it is. One way...More
