We drove to Pompeii from Sorrento and did the trip independently, we would recommend visiting early morning as it gets very hot walking around and it gets busy with groups by mid morning

Pompeii is absolutely amazing. Getting to walk around the real, perfectly preserved streets of the ancient Roman settlement is surreal. It is definitely a must see. We went first thing in the morning and spent 3 hours. We used the excellent Rick Steves Audio Europe...More

Me and my family wanted to see the city of Pompeii which we had heard so much about. We bought a book before went in, but we had no guide. We went around the city while looking at the map. We didn't go everywhere, but...More

A place i wanted to visit for years. We had a guided tour, organised by Thomas Cook. I can thoroughly recommend it. Yes it was a little expensive, but you have to do it once in a lifetime. A lot of walking, so go when...More

This site is very large and definitely worth a visit. The size of this site is surprising and the sights here are amazingly well preserved.

Be prepared to walk and have water, the place is amazing and the fact that there is so much preserved, we spent 5 hours walking

Initially we went because it is one of those places that you 'have to visit' if you are in the area. The train station is about fifty metres from one of the entrances so is ideal for a visit from the Sorrento and Napoli areas....More

Did the walk around Pompeii ruins in September 2017. Quite a long walk ... around streets and down to the Colosseum. Amazing how art from ancient period has been preserved, worth a visit.

We've been here twice, and it's just as interesting the second time. Some of the "bodies" are recreations and some are not. After such a cataclysmic event, it's amazing that so much remains of it. A fascinating look at a moment in time preserved forever.

You could literally spend hours wondering around the vast area & would suggest getting the €10 tour at the train station to avoid wondering aimlessly. Tour guide was 2 hours & entertaining. Bring walking shoes, Sun screen and plenty of water.

Fairly good signage, there is parking close by, plus lots of compounds offering various deals, eg, free parking if you buy their audio guide package. But note, as in my review, the audio guide is not as current as Pompeii’s... More

I think you can try online. Getyourguidde website also offers skip the line tours. We had Artecampania card but I can't say for sure if it gave you priority entrance as we were there off season so there was no line to skip.
