Piazza del Gesu Nuovo is a square and is the start of the long narrow street of Spaccanapoli located in the historical city centre.

The prominent landmarks in the area include the Church of Gesù Nuovo, the Church of Santa Chiara, and the spire or guglia of the Immaculate Virgin

If you visit this square there is a lovely woman Selling hand knitted decorations. For each decoration I bought she wrapped it in brown paper and hand knitted a little flower and attached it with a peg . Amazing !

The old historic center of Naples is protected as a World Heritage Site y UNESCO, and the plaque is actually to be found in this square considered to be one of the most beautiful of the city.

In its center the 30 meters high obelisk with the Immaculate Virgin; on its sides some important old palaces of the rich and noble and then of course the churches - the one giving it its name but also the Santa Chiara monastery. It is the entry point to the really old part of the town joined through the narrow pedestrian streets.

There is a small tourist info point on the square as well should you need it - but other than that it is just nice and quiet with no bars or cafés; a spiritual center.

Pleasant small Piazza with a large monument. The main reason for visiting here is to see the stunning Chiesa del Gesù Nuovo which is actually hidden away behind lots of scaffolding and building work.

Surprisingly quite and a lot to see in the Piazza. Big obelisk, the new church and the convent area. Bars and restaurants also.

The impressive spire of the Immaculate Virgin at the center of this square is unmistakable. She is surrounded by amazing churches. The namesake, Gesu Nuovo Church, which faces her is an incredible example of 16th-century Neopolitan baroque architecture on the inside—truly one of the most beautiful churches in the whole city. The outside façade seems very plain in comparison. Don’t let it fool you—go inside and be amazed! On the opposite side is the Gothic Church of Santa Chiara with its breathtaking 18th-century cloister, filled with majolica tiles representing social scenes of Naples in the 1700’s and gorgeous frescoes featuring biblical scenes.

Nice little piazza we enjoyed viewing on a quiet misty evening from a restaurant on the square. It was a nice unexpected site as we navigated the small Napoli alleys

Whoever visits Naples have to dedicate some time to the Old Town where a big part of the attractions is. Among many Piazza's in the Old Town, this one is one of the beautiful.

I visited Piazza del Gesu Nuovo in August 2019 as part of a self-guided walking tour of Naples. There is a nice statue in the middle of Piazza del Gesu Nuovo and there are several churches near here that are worth visiting. Piazza del Gesu Nuovo also leads to Via Toledo which is the main shopping street of Naples and upscale.

We arrived in Old Town at Piazza del Gesu Nuovo. There is an information point where we collect a area map. The Piazza is beautiful with a nice statue. A lot of historical sight to see.
