This is the main reason you go there. You get smashing panorama over Naples towards Vesuvius, sea and islands. Castle itself is not striking - thick walls, nice gate but not much to see inside apart from some art exhibitions. Ticket is EUR 5 (you...More

We went here to get out of the city a bit, and it was a nice view over the bay. We wandered around the walls, but beyond that, there is not much else to do. There is some art inside, but nothing spectacular. We also...More

On our trip to Naples a visit to Castel Sant'Elmo was not planned, but my girlfriend convinced me to change our plan and pay a visit, and i am glad we did. Took the underground from Centrale to Vanvitielli, then took a 10 mins walk...More

We visited this castle on our last morning in Napes. I really couldn't tell you anything about the structure itself; but just go for the view. You can access the castle by taking a funicular up to the top of the hill from one of...More

It is a bit steep to come up here but there is also an elevator. Especially useful for little kids and strollers. Unfortunately it was too foggy and we could only see the silhouette of the Vesuvius. But the city and the see were clearer.

Walked up from the center of Naples, a good cardio workout to burn off the ice creams. We were going to use our Artecard, as discounted. The lovely lady on the desk informed us it was cheaper today, Tuesday, than with a Artecard discount- cost...More

The view is amazing in a sunny day. but what a shame and a deception about the castel visit, with this huge potential there should be a lot of things to explain the history and the building of the castel. I am sure they shoud...More

I won't even try to explain how to get here. It is a true adventure, but worth it for the view. The tourist bureau gave us directions and a map. Found the funicular just fine, but they had marked the wrong stop on our map...More

Fantastic views of Naples, half price with the Artecard, either take the steps up, catch the funicular or take the tube to Vanvitelli.

One of those places where your imagination can run riot!! A brisk walk from the funiculare station and then you start walking up the ramps/walkways past the slits where the cannons are looking out, past the drawbridge. All the time you have the spectacular views...More

I'm not sure because it's a no working day in Italy, but I guess so. Opening hours from 8.30am to 7.30 pm but the ticket shop closes at 6.30.
