Disgusting. Rough sleepers everywhere. Human waste is visible. The area is in dire need of help. Stay away, even if you want to see the good stuff!

A gritty, noisy, tourist packed area with great shopping and restaurants. Very different vibe from Rome. Has its own style and is proud of it. Pizza is amazing as well as buffallo mozerella, tiramesu, and all the other goodies Italy is known for.

There is something about Naples. At first, she shocks the senses---all of them. Naples is loud, brash, fast, in-your-face. Filled with narrow, cobblestone alleyways full of graffiti and overhung with coloful banners, streamers, and holiday lights. The city center is a cornucopia of sights, sounds and the aromas of freshly brewed coffee, pastries and pastas. Murals of Maradona compete with virgins and saints for those seeking the ultimate instagrammable moments. It is like no other place in Italy. It is like no other place I have ever experienced. Yes, you experience Naples, and after a while, you begin to wish you had more time to spend getting lost in this most Italian city. Go to Naples! Let it grow on you! Eat the pizzas, the sfogliatelle, the babas. Get lost in the alleys. Wave at the old ladies looking down at the throngs from their tiny balconies filled with the day's laundry. Sip cafe standing at a counter. Then, turn another corner and down another narrow, graffiti-covered alley. You will not regret it.

We stayed in a hotel in the historical centre and we really felt like we were in the heart of Naples. There are a lot of tourist shops and restaurants, but there are also some great authentic places to be found.

Fabulous area with lots of great alleyways and streets with beautiful buildings. Lots of nice small shops. Many traditional cafes here with outdoor seating and serving lots of traditional Italian pastries.

A must visit! In the historic center of Naples there are narrow streets, ancient shops, most of the universities, churches, museums, monuments, excavations, historic buildings and archaeological sites that have earned them the nomination as a UNESCO heritage site.

Dirty, scummy, definitely not worth the visit - not even for Pompei. Google “Pompei” instead. It will give you a better, more fulfilling experience of this exceptionally interesting historic event, whereas Naples will leave you disappointed.
Hardly any amenities, rude people and staff, exceptionally poor transportation.
Spend your time and money elsewhere in Italy.

During our brief visit to Naples, we had only three hours to get a glimpse of the centre. We decided to walk to the Cattedrale di San Gennaro.
From the airport, our bus brought us to the garden next to the Teatro di San Carlo. Along the way, we saw from the bus the huge Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi, a lot of neoclassic buildings and the University of Naples Federico II on Corso Umberto I, the Camera di Commercio on Piazza Giovanni Bovio, and the imposing Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) next to the Piazza Municipio.
As our guide suggested, from the Piazza del Plebiscito we first went to see the Galleria Umberto I, then headed up the elegant Via Toledo. It has a lot of neoclassic and modern buildings and exclusive shops. We passed the Toledo metro station next to the Disney store. We did not have time to visit the station, although we knew that it is the most beautiful of all of them.
On Piazza Dante, we turned eastward, passed the Port'Alba and entered the scenic Via dei Tribunali with the genuine Neapolitan atmosphere. It is narrow, crowded, with little shops, bars, churches and scooters everywhere!
We saw the Obelisco di San Gennaro but continued to the Tribunale Di Napoli, then back to the Via Duomo which was under reconstruction, finally arriving at the cathedral. After a brief visit, we returned using the same route.
Fortunately, we did not have any problems, despite the fact that Naples has a notoriously bad reputation! We have, of course, paid close attention to our belongings!

Very dirty and crowdy. Bad smell all around. The only good things were the bistros, bars and shops around.

Noi abbiamo girato in metro senza problemi .

Dopodichè scendi via Duomo e ti trovi su Corso Umberto I, percorrilo tutto e ti ritrovi in piazza Garibaldi, dove c’è la stazione centrale.
Ciao, buona passeggiata e buon divertimento.

The port of Naples is great (long), a part of him is near the Piazza del Plebiscito, which is a central area, which is the part where you take the ferry to Isle of Capri and case changes the location of the embraque, there is a bus from the port itself which makes this sex. Good ride.
