Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had great fun having one to one teaching with Rosario at his pizzeria in Naples. Although I'd experimented making Neapolitan style pizzas at home in the UK, the 2 hours I spent with Rosiaro was really valuable in giving me practical experience mixing and kneeding the dough. I had no idea that the dough needed to be needed for so long. I also got really good instruction and practice about how to roll our the dough to make the pizza base. This stuff is really hard to learn from books, photos or even videos. Even though I was over an hour late the Rosario and Veronica - who is the course administrator and translator - she speaks really good English - accommodated me and made me feel welcome. I can't recommend this course highly enough if you want to learn the secrets of how to make good Neapolitan pizza.

I gave this course to my boyfriend who loves to make pizza and now wanted to learn the Napolitan way to do it. The translater were really nice and helpful and also told us a lot about Napoli and the ingredients. They also let me be in the kitchen to look when he was making everything even although I had'nt paid for the course myself. My boyfriend were the only one that participated in the course so it was perfect for him to get this private education with the chef. The chef were really passionated and gave Alex the time to really learn every step without rushing. It was a really amazing experience and we could really recommend it!

I enjoyed this experience, although some small details made it less than perfect. I also did a cooking class in Rome for the same price and it was no contest. That experience was much more informative and personal with greater attention to detail and was more private since the work was done in a studio with a large kitchen. I enjoyed this one, but I found the price to be very high given the quality of the experience.

I was told to meet outside of a pizzeria near the port in Naples at 10 a.m. I waited there for ten minutes before being met by the host of the experience. She was very nice and spoke good English. It became clear that we were waiting for the pizzeria to open. I met up with a few other clients and that was our group. However we ended up having to wait for over half an hour in the restaurant for the chef. We were served coffee while we waited, but it was an uncomfortably long wait. We didn't receive a history of Neapolitan pizza as described on the web site, presumably due to this delay

Once we got started, we enjoyed the process of kneading the dough and preparing it (even though it wasn't the dough we would eventually cook with.) There was a good amount of personal attention especially since there were only 4 of us. The cook didn't speak English so the organizer of the course acted as a translator. However it was clear that the chef wasn't in a great mood as he was scowling frequently and let loose a few choice curses in Italian. It was also a bit uncomfortable because we were actually in the seating section of the pizzeria, using the tables people eat at to work with the dough. To get to the kitchen you had to go outside and through another door, so we had to leave our things in the restaurant, which began to fill up with people for lunch. The chef was actually preparing pizzas for regular customers while trying to instruct us. Thankfully there weren't too many on this day. (On the web site, it says that the kitchen is closed for the class, but at least one large table of customers was served while we were there.)

The best part of the experience was stretching out the dough and putting on the ingredients and placing our pizza in the oven. It cooks very quickly in less than two minutes since the oven is at over 400 degrees Celsius. That was very cool to experience.

However, the actual eating experience was not as great. We were given our pizza folded up "portafolio" or "wallet" style to eat while standing in the kitchen. This is a good way to eat a pizza on the run but we were in no rush, and I would have much preferred to eat it while sitting down (all the cheese and sauce falls to the bottom!) We also were able to try a deep-fried pizza, and could have a beer or coke. There was no chance to try different toppings or styles of pizza, nor were we offered any other items off the menu, or any wine. The "degustazione" or tasting menu on the web site promised two different types of pizza to try at the table, as well as wine and conversation. For the amount that we paid, I expected more. In the other experience we were served Prosecco throughout the experience and two different bottles of wine, and given food to taste throughout the experience as well as two types of appetizers, two pasta dishes, and a dessert -- all for the same price.

Overall I enjoyed the experience and learning about how to make a pizza. it was quite informative and I did learn a lot. However, the cost and small details made it less than perfect.

We had a great time making pizza.
There was confusion at the start when we were asked to change days but this was the booking company not the restaurant.
For those who said in their reviews that they didn't make dough, you'd have to spend a day or two there kneading and proving. You are told how to make the dough and given the recipe.
It was good fun and then you get to eat what you have made. You even get to use the pizza oven.
We said no to one of the courses we were so full.
We would recommend this experience, the kitchen staff were friendly and welcoming. I would even do it again.

This is a fantastic experience. If you like making food or even curious about how to make pizza, this is an amazing exeperience. Step by step you are taught by a certified expert how to make pizza. Is not easy but with a little practice and a humble heart you'll get it in no time. We took our son, 12 and he was the star of all of us.

Fantastic experience on the secrets of making some of the best pizza in the world..
We learnt how to make the dough, the secrets of the best ingredients and the process of the dough maturation. Then we made our own base and cooked the pizza in a pizza oven - it's a lot harder than it looks! We ate our creations alongside amazing extras made by the experts themselves and a big glass of wine. Pizzeria Al 22 is already a really well known place and people were continuously knocking on the door trying to get their daily pizza. (sadly for them they were all turned away because it was 'our' day ;)). So you'll be learning from the best!
