I enjoyed this visit very much. On the summer solstice the light shines through the front window and creates a pattern on the floor. We were here two days prior, but you could see how the sunlight projected through the windows. I enjoyed the peace...More

No charge to visit as this is a working church. Fantastic exterior carving on doors and above masonary. Allow 15 mins unless you are really into churches and have a detailed guidebook to follow and read.

The facade and front door is wonderfully quirky - it's another Italian church but there are some interesting things to see otherwise which make it alittle unique.

Church with a very interesting façade, it also did not disappoint with the high quality and unusual iconography of the paintings inside. I was fascinated by the pulpit as well.

This Chiesa is named after Purgaiory. The door is adorned with skulls and there are more skulls inside. Spectacular celing and altar.

Although the exterior with its skulls and cross bones looks like Captain Jack Sparrow May have built it; this is a gorgeous little church and right on the mask. Street of the old city.

This is one of the many interesting churches in Matera. It's easy to find. The building itself is very unique, with bones/skulls in the facade.

We weren't sure initially why the church had all the skulls and skeletons etc but were then told it was associated with purgatory. Worth a visit due to the unusualness of the place.
