Exploring the Latina district, which I suggest is worth doing, we stumbled upon this beautifully presented gem of a museum. All exhibits clearly marked in both Spanish and English. Interactive exhibits bring ancient Madrid to life. It's free entry too. Great for families and adults...More

We kind of stumbled upon this Museum while exploring Madrid. It was free admission, so why not. Beautiful museum misty about the history of Madrid and the culture. It's kind of confusing the layout, a map would've been nice to have. If you're looking for...More

Amazingly well-designed, engaging exhibits, and a botanical garden, to boot! While the crowds rage outside in the tourist traps, you can have a wonderful time seeing the history of Madrid, starting in pre-history.

It might be free but there's not a lot to see unless you climb lots of stairs! It says its the 'origins of madrid' but the only real origin I saw was the miracle well. I found it hard to walk around the building following...More

We came across this (free) museum returning from dinner one night which might be the only way people find it as it is poorly advertised and named either the Museum of Madrid's Origins or the Museum of San Isidro. The galleries display information, paleontological and...More

While it doesn't pop up on most tourist maps and can be hard to find, the museum is well worth the visit, especially for families with small children. First of all, it's free. Second, even at the height of tourist season, there were few people...More

Surprisingly good. Small museum of the history of Madrid. Very interesting legend of San Isidro, you must learn the story at the museum. The museum is refurbished and all are very well displayed. Find this!

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street
performers, colorful lights, window shopping,
restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and
churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a
collection of plazas interconnected by a network of
side streets. Some of these side streets are wide
pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so
