This is a small chapel and group of family crypts under the cathedral. It's actually more interesting than the cathedral in reality.

We ran into a fellow tourist who suggested we stop in here. We'd been upstairs at the church and it was a nice segue to going downstairs to the Crypt. Another reviewer said this is kind of off the beaten track. I would agree. It...More

Close to the Palacio Real and Almudena Cathedral, you can find the Almudena Crypt Chapel It is a not old building, it follows the NEO-reoman style and it is a very quiet place

Not overrun with tourists, this chapel is off the main road and probably overlooked given the proximity of the royal palace. There is no fixed cost to enter and they just ask for a donation. The chapel is extremely peaceful and beautiful with lovely cloisters....More

We emerged from the Palacio Real and decided to visit the crypt of the cathedral of next door. Entrance was a donation of a couple of euros which was well worth it. Very peaceful with lots of columns (more than 400) and 20 separate chapels....More

A nice place to sit for awhile and gather your thoughts after a day of walking around Madrid. It is peaceful here. I loved the beautiful columns...they claim there are 400 of them, which piqued our interest. There is also a painting of "Our Lady...More

An attractive, light Romanesque-style building, with many columns and (therefore) some interesting viewpoints. Many (largely modern) tombs of local dignitaries etc. But it is modern - so don't expect the aura of age. Some good modern stained glass. It was free to go in but...More
