David was an incredible tour guide and has a wealth of knowledge. The tour was insightful. It seems there is nothing he doesn’t know about the civil war. We cannot wait to return to Madrid and take another of his tours.

Madrid does not discuss the Civil War: there is no museum; there are no plaques; and my Lonely Planet guidebook simply doesn't mention it. David explains the war in Madrid via a two-hour walking tour from the Temple of Debod through the Parc del Oeste...More

The Spanish government does very little to memorialize the Spanish Civil War, so for visitors who wish to learn about this period, I recommend making use of David Mathieson's knowledge. We took the Madrid tour, where we saw bunkers used by the nationalists and a...More

Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense
University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced,
collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is
filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes
and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing
cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping
spot where the major Spanish clothing and department
store chains are less busy than their downtown
